When you were a child, I’m sure you probably found yourself saying at one point or another, “Rain, rain, go away! Come again another day!” (Or perhaps if you live in Minnesota, like I do, you have found yourself saying, “Snow, snow! Go away! Do not come again another day!) :) Whatever word choices you have made, the idea comes from a nursery rhyme that children usually chant when they are filled with disappointment because the rain has ruined their plans to go play outside in the sun.
Well…sometimes as adults I think we find ourselves still quoting these nursery rhyme lines—if not aloud, then at least in our hearts. Sometimes we think we have a great plan for our lives. We have everything figured out just perfectly as to how things are going to work out. We are happily going about our daily routine and everything seems bright and lovely. Then all of a sudden….WHAM! Life throws us a curve ball. Something gets thrown our way—something we probably never saw coming and something we feel completely helpless to handle. Guess what? It has started to rain and maybe even a storm is on its way. Our plans that we imagined and hoped for suddenly seem like a big mess and we just can’t seem to see through the rain and the storms.
